Welcome to Fifth Grade!!!!!

I am so happy to have such a wonderful class this year and I am looking forward to seeing your child grow and succeed this year.

I teach ELA to all of B4
and Social Studies to our homeroom.

HOMEWORK

ALWAYS check your child's planner for homework.

ELA

Students are expected to read a  minimumof 20 minutes each night.

They will be various reading logs assigned throughout the year.  These reading logs are a way of connecting to the text and can be a talking point for you  and your child.  Reading logs are due on Fridays, and we ask that you sign your child's reading log each week.

IXL

We will be using the IXL website for Language Arts practice.  Students may use the user name and password from math to access the language arts section of the site. Check your child's planner for the particular skills we are working on for the week.  A grade will be entered in the Practice and Participation category in ASPEN.

There will be additional homework assignments throughout the year in grammar and writing.  Students are responsible for writing their homework into their planners each night.

SOCIAL STUDIES

  • YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO HAVE SOME HOMEWORK IN SS
  • Most of the work in done in class with group projects as well
  •  Be sure to check your child's planner each night for updated homework and quiz dates.
